Linden Optometry is proud to present the Eco (Earth-Conscious Optics) line of Sustainable Eyewear.
Eco provides conscious eyewear choices that are made with respect for our environment -- while never compromising on quality, design, or comfort. That's why Eco eyewear is made from sustainable materials, and produced following ethical and eco-conscious values, to reduce the environmental impact. This affordable line of eyewear is available in three materials: Ocean Plastics It's estimated that our oceans contain between 75 and 199 million metric tons of plastic. By collecting, recycling, and reusing ocean plastic waste, Eco creates a sustainable material while reducing pollution, greenhouse gases, and energy consumption. Clip-on sun lenses (pictured above) are available as an option. You can identify these Ocean Plastic eyeglass frames in our Eco display case by the word Ocean on the front of each pair. How is ocean plastic collected? vimeo.com/showcase/4973266/video/810958161 Recycled Metals Using Recycled metal reduces waste and pollution, saves energy, and minimizes mining emissions. Additionally, it can be recycled further without the material losing any strength or properties. All metal frames in our Eco display case are made of 95% recycled post consumer waste. Clip-on sun lenses (pictured above) are available as an option. Bio-based It all starts with castor seeds, which are first turned into castor seed oil. This oil is then used as the base material for bio-pellets, which make up the core of the Bio-based material. All plastic eyewear in our Eco display case (without the word "Ocean" on the front) is made of 63% castor seed oil. Clip on sun lenses (pictured above) are available as an option. This affordable line is your opportunity to help the environment while still looking your best. Even the packaging is made from recycled materials. And, we provide a donation bin in our lobby, so you may recycle your old eyewear! Glasses are sorted to determine those that are usable or unusable, processed, and distributed to optical missions around the world. Glasses that are not suitable for re-use are recycled for scrap. For every Eco eyewear frame purchased, a tree is planted by the Eco Eyewear brand, and Linden Optometry A PC plants one tree as well.
Unlike being carbon neutral, where CO₂ emissions are compensated at a ratio of one to one, Eco Eyewear is carbon negative. This means that efforts in reducing carbon emissions by planting trees actually surpass neutrality and that Eco's trees clean out more CO₂ than the eyewear production creates. |
