Recycle Your Contact Lenses and Packaging
We are happy to announce that we are now accepting used contact lenses and contact lens "blister packs" (including foil) for recycling. Bring a few, or bring an entire bag!
But please, leave contact lens cardboard boxes at home, in your blue recycling bin. Contact lens blister packs and used contact lenses will be re-manufactured into various plastic items, such as playground surfaces and outdoor furniture. |
PLEASE DO NOT BRING CONTACT LENS CARDBOARD BOXES!
These can be recycled thru your home recycling bin. |
We are packaging used and/or expired contact lenses and the blister packs for shipment to the recycling plant. Through a grant from Bausch & Lomb, one dollar per pound will be donated to World Sight Day Challenge, which uses the funds to provide eye care in under-served areas of the world.
What happens to the recycled material?
After the contact lenses and blister packs are shredded into raw material, it’s sold to manufacturing companies who manufacture the end products and complete the recycling journey.
These end products include outdoor furniture and decking, plastic shipping pallets, watering cans, storage containers and bins, tubes for construction applications, flooring tiles, playground surface covers, athletic fields, and more!
